INTRODUCTION
At the Alvear Icon Hotel, we are dedicated to responsible growth and aligning ourselves with the sustainability policies increasingly adopted worldwide. We continually innovate and evolve to meet environmental challenges, integrating a socially and ecologically responsible approach into every management aspect.

Sustainability is a team effort. That's why we actively involve our team members in reaching our goals and promoting sustainable tourism as a strategic pillar of our operations. Additionally, we create opportunities for personal and professional growth, fostering an environment of continuous learning.

We also aim to inspire our guests by providing information on sustainable practices they can implement during their stay and daily lives. Actions such as supporting local economies, reducing energy and water consumption, and minimizing waste generation contribute positively to the sustainable development of our community and the tourism industry.
 
  
RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION


Plastic removal
Committed to reducing plastic use, we have eliminated unnecessary packaging and adopted sustainable materials. In addition, we installed twenty water dispensers in different sectors for our employees to minimize the waste of plastic bottles.



Waste Management
We are committed to finding solutions that reduce waste from our operations and enhance recycling efforts. To achieve this, we sort waste into color-coded containers and promote waste reduction strategies through meetings with our teams. Additionally, we safely manage hazardous waste in a designated area on the second basement level of the building.


Responsible services
In line with our commitment to sustainability, we provide eco-friendly products in our rooms and spa. Our environmental initiatives include wheat straws, eco-friendly cleaning products, and diluted dishwashing systems. Additionally, we have technical datasheets and safety sheets for each product. We mandate personal protective equipment when handling corrosive substances and train our staff in their responsible use.


Energy Efficiency
We have enhanced our lighting with low-consumption LED technology to optimize energy consumption and installed four solar panels in the outdoor pool area to charge mobile electronic devices.


Reasonable Use of Water
As part of our management practices, we have placed a sign in each room encouraging our guests to reuse sheets and towels every two days, promoting the conservation of this valuable resource.


Natural Programs at the Spa
We offer exclusive body treatments featuring natural ingredients such as bamboo and yerba mate. Through the Full Delta Bambú Experience program, our guests can enjoy body polishes infused with Germaine de Capuccini bamboo extracts. The Yerbasmaster program combines a comprehensive treatment with yerba mate, guarana, and coenzyme Q10, along with massages performed using gourd mates.


Green Spaces  
We have planted native species on the terraces of the Wine Bar, in the Sunny Yard restaurant, and around the outdoor pool. Our guests enjoy a natural environment in the city's heart and learn about the local plant species.

We cultivate an agile, collaborative, safe, and inclusive work environment. We strongly emphasize the professional development of women in our industry and are dedicated to promoting equal opportunities in the workplace.


Education and Professional Development  
Our teams are our most valuable asset. We prioritize their well-being and growth, as we recognize that their development drives the success of our hotel. As part of our commitment to excellence in service, we offer a comprehensive cross-training program that encourages continuous learning and the acquisition of new skills. These opportunities facilitate knowledge exchange between various departments and across the Alvear chain. Additionally, we provide leadership training for middle and senior management in collaboration with the Association of Tourism Hotels of the Argentine Republic (AHT). We also offer training on using Rational brand kitchen equipment properly and conduct annual CPR and first aid training through our Occupational Health Service.


Integration
New employees participate in an induction and welcome day to familiarize themselves with the hotel's history and work environment. During this process, they are introduced to our establishment's mission, vision, and values and learn about the key policies, procedures, and information necessary for their daily work. They tour the different departments—front-of-house and back-of-house—and enjoy a delicious snack prepared by our Pastry Chef and her team.
To promote integration, we publish a monthly magazine on the Intranet, through corporate emails, and on internal bulletin boards. This magazine highlights employee birthdays, congratulations, special mentions, and anniversaries at each level of our organization.


Social Events
Our Human Resources team organizes events yearly to promote coexistence and camaraderie among staff members. Notable events include our annual end-of-year party and the celebration of Children's Day for our employees' children. Additionally, we hold retirement farewell parties and dedicate a week to the Housekeeping Department, which features various activities and talks on well-being and health. These include nutrition sessions, mindfulness days, and discounts at chain gyms.
 

SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES


Baked Goods  
We use organic flours to create baked goods and viennoiseries, preserving their natural properties to ensure high-quality products.


Healthy Living  
We support sports activities and promote healthy lifestyles through food and fitness. We sponsor the annual marathon organized by the Council of Professionals of Economic Sciences of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, featuring 3K, 5K, and 10K races. Additionally, we offer nutrition workshops led by specialists for our employees, as their well-being is essential for optimal personal and professional performance.


Solidarity Support  
We collect recyclable materials to fund various initiatives at Garrahan Hospital and promote environmental care. We collect plastic caps from sodas, water, and juices, which we then deliver to designated collection points.
 

ENVIRONMENTAL CONSCIOUSNESS


Awareness
We consistently communicate our sustainability initiatives through billboards, newsletters, and other channels. Additionally, we provide thematic training and emphasize sustainable management and workplace safety during the onboarding process for new employees.


Sustainable Transportation
To promote sustainable transportation, we inform our guests about bicycle rentals, which allow them to explore the city leisurely. This active form of mobility fosters health and well-being while offering a unique experience during their stay and encouraging environmentally friendly practices.

Discovering Buenos Aires
We want our guests to enjoy a well-rounded experience in Buenos Aires. Our concierge offers personalized recommendations based on their interests, including cultural, social, and sports activities. Moreover, we encourage them to explore another side of the city by visiting the Costanera Sur Ecological Reserve, just a few minutes from the hotel. This destination allows guests to connect with nature and appreciate its stunning landscapes.
  

OUR LABELS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Accessibility Guidelines 2022
We have been recognized in the Accessibility Guidelines program of the Argentine Tourism Quality System. This initiative promotes inclusive tourism planning that ensures the full integration of people with disabilities, reduced mobility, and/or communication difficulties, both functionally and emotionally.

CocinAR Seal 2023
Our establishment's restaurants have received the Cocinar seal, awarded by the Argentine Tourism Quality System of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports. This recognition highlights our commitment to using local products and raw materials in our cuisine, adopting sustainable production practices, continuously training our staff, and prioritizing diners' satisfaction. These efforts contribute to an attractive and competitive tourist offering.

Nespresso Recycling Awards 2024
Alvear Icon has been honored with the Nespresso Recycling Award. Thanks to our team's dedication, we recycled 116 kg capsules between May and June 2024. This effort produced 95 kilograms of compost for over 100 gardens in rural schools and recovered 21 kg of aluminum, giving it a second life and contributing to environmental protection.
